Libraries in the Garden of Clio

On 27 October 2015, the Consortium of European Research Libraries (CERL) organized the conference ‘Library History: Why, What, How?’ at the University of Antwerp. In thisintroduction to the conference proceedings, the author discusses why it makes sense to bring together library professionals and academic researchers on the topic of library history. Additionally, he presents some examples of recent and ongoing research on the history of libraries in Antwerp and Belgium, a region which is sometimes overlooked in this particular field of study.
