Geïntegreerd vaccin en microbiologisch onderzoek met focus op een verbeterde kennis van de immuunrespons bij profylactische en therapeutische vaccins (inclusief tumorvaccins) en het beperken van antibioticaresistentie. Verschillende innovatieve onderzoekstopics zijn lopende of zitten in de pipeline: potentiële ontwikkeling van theranostische toestellen (e.g. snelle Point of Care diagnostica, optische biosensoren, lab-on-chip, microarrays) voor detectie van pathogenen and geassocieerde resistentie en dit in samenwerking met verschillende Europese onderzoekspartners; potentiële ontwikkeling van snelle diagnostische tests en injectiesystemen; potentiële ontwikkeling van patiënt specifieke cellulaire vaccins voor gerichte antivirale en antikanker therapie.
