3D THERMAL MODELING FOR A PHOTOVOLTAIC MODULE

Boekbijdrage - Boekhoofdstuk Conferentiebijdrage

This paper focuses on the development of a realistic thermal model of a solar cell and a solar module consisting of N*M cells and their metal interconnection, using the MARC 3D finite element modeling framework. The main aim is to verify the steady-state and transient thermal behavior in different operating conditions. The overall efficiency of a solar system highly depends on the temperature of the solar cell [4]. In non-ideal site locations, the efficiency may be further reduced by partial shading [8] and dynamic conditions by time-dependent effects could have an impact. With this model, the impact of varying wind speed conditions and shading conditions is shown on the module level.
