PID is a very common condition. Imaging plays an important role in providing a non-invasive assessment of infectious lesions and guiding the therapeutic management. Abdominal and transvaginal Doppler ultrasound is the investigation of choice in first-line. MRI is an excellent complementary technique to ultrasound for lesion characterization. The radiological signs of endometritis, cervitis, salpingitis, pyosalpinx, oophoritis, tubo-ovarian abscess will be describe. The purpose of this article is to emphasize the radiological signs of PID at the initial stage of its management. © 2014 Elsevier Masson SAS. All rights reserved.
