Rubens Unveiled. Notes on the Master's Painting Technique

Boek - Boek

On the basis of the paintings in the Royal Museum of Fine Arts of Antwerp (KMSKA), the entire painting process of Peter Paul Rubens is explained in its full complexity, from the invention of the compositions to the last finishing touches. Attention is paid to aspects such as the nature of the support, the ground layer, the pigments used and the particular ways the artist handled his paint. The participation of the studio is also considered. A catalogue of Rubens's paintings in the Antwerp museum concludes this well-illustrated book.
