Rubens's lost Theoretical Notebook

It is known that Rubens wrote down ideas about the human form in a theoretical notebook. However, the original notebook was destroyed in a fire in 1720, but to date four partial copies of it have come to light. On the basis of this material some of his ideas are summarised, among which cabbalistic and neo-Pythagorean theories and the basic postulate concerning the degeneration of the pristine human form.
