Investigation of activation cross-sections of proton induced nuclear reactions on Mo-nat up to 40 MeV: New data and evaluation

Tijdschriftbijdrage - Tijdschriftartikel

Cross-sections of proton induced nuclear reactions on natural molybdenum have been studied in the frame of a systematic investigation of charged particle induced nuclear reactions on metals for different applications. The excitation functions of Tc-93m, Tc-93g((m+)), Tc-94m, Tc-94g, Tc-95m, Tc-95g((m+)), Tc-99m, Mo-90((cum)), Mo-93m, Mo-99((cum)), Nb-90((cum)), Nb-92m, Nb-95m, Nb-95g, Nb-96 and Zr-88((cum)), Zr-89((cum)) were measured up to 40 MeV proton energy by a using stacked foil technique and activation method. The main goals of this work were to study the production possibility of the medically important Tc-99m and its Mo-99 parent nucleus, to get experimental data for accelerator technology, for monitoring of proton beam, for thin layer activation technique and for testing nuclear reaction theories. The experimental data were compared with critically analysed published data and with the results of model calculations, obtained by using the ALICE-IPPE, EMPIRE-II and TALYS codes.
