Des traces de la Vetus Syra des évangiles en traduction arabe? Étude critique des variantes significatives en Mc 5,1-20 dans le Sinaï arabe 80

The paper studies Mk 5,1-20 in Sinai ar. 80 (dated 1469). After a general presentation of the manuscript, it gives an edition and a French translation of that pericope. The following study shows that this manuscript, though late, preserves many traces of a translation from the Old Syriac version. Not only linguistic signs of a translation from Syriac, but also textual characteristics are shared with the Old Syriac version (short text, common variants etc). It is the occasion to examine the place that Sinai ar. 80 occupies in the tradition of the "Melkite version from the XIth century" (Kashouh jB): a comparison with other manuscripts of that Arabic version is offered. The author concludes by attracting the attention of the reader to this manuscript, which seems to be a quite important witness to the Old Syriac version and the so-called "Western text" of the Gospels.
