The Miocene (23 to 5.3 Ma) during which a stepwise, global cooling of the climate occurred. The research intends to elucidate on a detailed level the tempo and mode of the effects of the global cooling events on dinoflagellates, and assess to what degree the biotic responses in the terrestrial and marine realm are in phase or not.
