De rol van het immuunsysteem in eierstokkanker

Ovarian cancer is a highly aggressive tumor type, with a poor prognosis. New therapeutic strategies are highly needed if we want to treat patients adequatly. 

Immunotherapy is a powerful anti-cancer treatment option, but it is not yet working to its full potential in every cancer type, including ovarian cancer. Therefore, in this thesis we aimed at studying the immune system of ovarian cancer more in-depth. Based on this information, we developed and tested therapeutic combination strategies and proved a proof-of-concept study to more easily implement screening of the patient's immune status in the clinical setting.
