Impressions’ of the Mamluk agricultural economy. Archaeobotanical evidence from clay ovens (ṭābūn) at Tall Ḥisbān (Jordan)

In this paper we present the results of the archaeobotanical analysis of impressions1 of plant remains encountered in the profile and on the surface of fragments of
clay ovens known as ṭāwabīn (s. ṭābūn). The fragments originate from the multi-period site of Tall Ḥisbān located in southern Bilād as-Shām (modern Jordan and
Palestine, see figure 1).
