Nooit Meer Alleen: zoektocht naar een beeld/taal voor het prille moederschap

Never alone again: searching for a visual/language to give voice to early motherhood examines how a polyphonic method of working is able to connect the artistic practice and reflection. Mining a myriad of external testimonies, a graphic novel was built around various aspects of motherhood and relationships that change after having a child. The investigation set out from an autobiographical impulse, but considers the search for and documentation of a common essence in the maternal experience. At the same time, research into the creative processes of artists hailing from different domains adds a resonating layer that grounds Never alone again in a wider field. The essay reveals developments in the making of a graphic novel. Questioning the medium's boundaries, the project keeps shifting them.
