Influence of accelerator on the pore structure of 3D printable concrete

Boekbijdrage - Boekhoofdstuk Conferentiebijdrage

Accelerators have been widely used for 3D concrete printing to obtain high shape stability. However, there is still a lack of knowledge of the pore structure of 3D printable concrete with the addition of an accelerator. In this study, the influence of accelerator dosages (0%, 3.5%, and 7% by the mass of cement) on the pore structure was analyzed. Results showed that the amount of air voids in mold cast specimens increased with the addition of the accelerator due to reduced vibration possibilities, while 3D printed specimens presented a very small amount of air voids. In addition, it was indicated that the increase in the accelerator dosage led to a decrease in the critical pore size of mold cast specimens. Further, 3D printed specimens had a higher critical pore size but a lower cumulative pore volume when compared to the mold cast specimens.
