Soumia Akachar

Soumia Akachar is a doctoral researcher at the Department of Political Science, Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Her doctoral research centres on the political representation of Muslim youth in Flanders and their feelings of (not) being politically represented. In this study, Soumia employs focus group methods in order to capture collectively constructed evaluations. She is affiliated to the research programme 'Evaluating Democratic Governance in Europe' (EDGE) and RHEA, the VUB Centre of Expertise Gender, Diversity and Intersectionality. She obtained a Master in Sociology and Political Sciences at the University of Amsterdam. During her bachelor in Political Science, Soumia studied International Relations at Sciences Po Lyon and interned as a research assistant at the Dutch Scientific Council for Government Policy ('De Wetenschappelijke Raad voor het Regeringsbeleid').
