Creatie en gebruik van Digital Twin voor de ontwikkeling en het testen van elektrische voertuigen en hun componenten (DigiTEV) (DigiTEV)

Today the European automotive industry is facing major challenges: instability of the markets and growth fluctuation with economic and environmental changes. The upcoming electrification of mainstream passenger cars will add complexity to the development process. The challenge for the industry is to keep shortening the development cycles to improve Time-to- Market while dealing with additional complexity and new, less mature components. Furthermore, tremendous amount of data is generated during the design and testing of electric vehicles and their components and also late in the production phase. So far the potential of this data is only partly used. To efficiently exploit the information contained it is necessary to handle large amounts of data. This is achieved by combining data, extracting the knowledge inside to make predictions and recommendations to accelerate and improve the design and testing of electric vehicles using new machine learning and data mining techniques. DigiTEV project will bring new fully integrated and adaptable digital twins of automotive components and test benches to improve the effectiveness of the design, prototyping, testing and redesign processes. DigiTEV will ensure the adoption of these new tools in real industrial settings, with three use cases representing very different parts of the electrical vehicle to show the universal validity of the methodology: electric steering, suspension systems and general drivelines. The DigiTEV project combines efficiently the main trends of electrification, virtualization and digitalization and intends among other industrial impacts, to improve the efficiency in designing and testing for a wide range of automotive systems reducing development times and time to market by 40%. Through its excellent consortium, including 3 OEMs and several key suppliers in digital tools, DigiTEV is able to credibly provide a clear route to market and to enable Europe to stay one step ahead of the world competition.
