The number of cases of schistosomiasis (Schistosoma mansoni) detected in each quarter (from 1988 to 1994) via basic health services in the 6 endemic provinces of Burundi is summarized in a figure. 15 months after civil unrest in the country, the output of the programme had recovered in most endemic provinces.
