Coordination chemistry and reactivity of copper in zeolites KU Leuven
Cu-zeolites are highly promising heterogeneous catalysts for a variety of chemical reactions. Knowledge of the location and coordination of copper in the zeolite lattice is key to fully understand its fascinating catalytic properties. Various methods exist to introduce Cu in zeolites, cation exchange being commonly used. The location of Cu in the zeolite structure has been researched for many years and an overview is presented here for the ...
Synthesis and coordination chemistry of 1,1,1-tris-(pyrid-2-yl)ethane Universiteit Antwerpen
A new synthesis of 1,1,1-tris(pyrid-2-yl)ethane (L), and a survey of its coordination chemistry, are reported. The complexes [ML2]n+ (Mn+ = Fe2+, Co2+, Co3+, Cu2+ and Ag+), [PdCl2L] and [CuI(L)] have all been crystallographically characterised. Noteworthy results include an unusual square planar silver(I) complex [Ag(L)2]X (X− = NO3− and SbF6−); the oxidative fixation of aerobic CO2 by [CuI(L)] to yield [Cu2I(L)2(μ-CO3)]2[CuI3] and [Cu(CO3)(L)]; ...
Ligand-driven anion-π interaction-induced silver(I) coordination chemistry Universiteit Antwerpen
Three novel coordination compounds were successfully isolated using rare and poorly studied 5-phenyl-2,2′-bipyridine (LI) and completely unexplored 6-phenyl-3-(pyridin-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazine (LII) ligands with AgNO3, namely, [Ag(LI)2]NO3·0.5H2O (1), [Ag(LI)PPh3NO3]·0.5CH2Cl2 (2), and [Ag2(LII)2(H2O)2](NO3)2 (3). 1 can be converted into 2 upon reacting with PPh3, while no conversion was observed for 3. The formation of 3 was templated through ...
Model for Metal Extraction from Chloride Media with Basic Extractants: A Coordination Chemistry Approach KU Leuven
The metal extraction mechanism of basic extractants is typically described as an anion exchange process, but this mechanism does not correctly explain all observations. This paper introduces a novel model for the extraction of metals by basic extractants from chloride media supported by experimental data on methyltrioctylammonium chloride and Aliquat 336 chloride systems. This model relies on the hypothesis that the metal species least ...

Direct synthesis of the 2D copper(II) 5-prop-2-ynoxyisophthalate MOF : comment on 'Surface functionalization of porous coordination nanocages via click chemistry and their application in drug delivery' Universiteit Gent
Synthesis of metal-organic materials is often dependent on the reaction conditions of suitable solvent/solvent mixture and temperature. A new finding based on a previously described protocol is reported: instead of obtaining metal-organic polyhedra (MOP), a metal-organic framework (MOF) with a 2D layered structure is obtained, following the same reported protocol. The 2D Cu(II)-5-prop-2-ynoxyisophthalate MOF, crystallized in a kagome-type ...
