Stack gas dispersion measurements with Large Scale-PIV, Aspiration Probes and Light Scattering Techniques and comparison with CFD KU Leuven Universiteit Antwerpen
The main purpose of this research is to manage simultaneous measurement of velocity and concentration in large cross-sections by recording and processing images of cloud structures to provide more detailed information for e.g. validation of CFD simulations. Dispersion from an isolated stack in an Atmospheric Boundary Layer (ABL) was chosen as the test case and investigated both experimentally and numerically in a wind tunnel. Large ...
An improved single probe method for sap flow measurements using finite heating duration Universiteit Gent
Because of its low cost and simple fabrication, it is easy to advocate for the single probe method as a method of choice in sap flow studies. An improved single probe method with finite heating duration (F-SPHP) is verified both in cut stem segments and in the field using mature beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) trees. The F-SPHP method is based on an analytical solution of the partial differential equation for combined heat conduction and convection, ...
Synthetic diagnostic for the JET scintillator probe lost alpha measurements Universiteit Gent
A synthetic diagnostic has been developed for the JET lost alpha scintillator probe, based on the ASCOT fast ion orbit following code and the AFSI fusion source code. The synthetic diagnostic models the velocity space distribution of lost fusion products in the scintillator probe. Validation with experimental measurements is presented, where the synthetic diagnostic is shown to predict the gyroradius and pitch angle of lost DD protons and ...
