PC-controlled radiochemistry system for preparation of no-carrier-added Cu-64 Vrije Universiteit Brussel
A homemade modular PC-controlled radiochemistry system, used to separate the no-carrier-added Cu-64 from irradiated electroplated solid cyclotron target Ni-64 layers was developed. Upon irradiation the target layer is dissolved in diluted nitric acid, followed by selective liquid-liquid extraction of the Cu-64. The final purification step is achieved making use of an anion exchange column. All the separation procedures can be carried out ...
Recent Progress in Metal Catalyzed Direct Carboxylation of Aryl Halides and Pseudo Halides Employing CO2: Opportunities for 11C radiochemistry KU Leuven
Carbon dioxide (CO2) as a synthon in organic transformations is very useful, especially when combined with transition metal catalysts. CO2 insertion on carbon(Aryl)-metal bonds are an elegant way to construct carbon-carbon bonds. A limited number of reports has been published to date on direct conversion of aryl halides (or pseudo halides) to aryl carboxylic acids using transition metal catalysts. These reactions place great demand on the choice ...
Radiolabeled nanobodies as theranostic tools in targeted radionuclide therapy of cancer Vrije Universiteit Brussel
INTRODUCTION:
The integration of diagnostic testing for the presence of a molecular target is of interest to predict successful targeted radionuclide therapy (TRNT). This so-called 'theranostic' approach aims to improve personalized treatment based on the molecular characteristics of cancer cells. Moreover, it offers new insights in predicting adverse effects and provides appropriate tools to monitor therapy responses. Recent findings ...

Molecular Imaging using Nanobodies: a case study Vrije Universiteit Brussel
Molecular imaging is a noninvasive method to measure specific biological processes in animal models and patients using imaging. In recent years there has been a tremendous evolution in hardware and software for imaging purposes. This progress has created an urgent need for new labeled targeted molecular probes. The unique physicochemical and pharmacokinetic properties of Nanobodies match the requirements of the ideal molecular imaging tracer. ...
