Dit onderzoeksvoorstel heeft tot doel de rol van Wnt-signaalmoleculen, RANKL en OPG te onderzoeken in de regulatie van botmetabolisme en trabeculaire en corticale botkenmerken in verschillende levensfasen bij mannen, d.w.z. tijdens de puberteit, op volwassen leeftijd en tijdens senescentie. Daarnaast zullen mogelijke determinanten van de Wnt OPG / RANKL / RANK systerms worden verkend, met de nadruk op de status van geslachtssteroïden.
