Highly efficient and robust carbon-free emission engines using direct-injection, spark-ignited hydrogen

Using hydrogen as a fuel for internal combustion engines can bring about a rapid reduction in the use of fossil fuels. High efficiency can be obtained by injecting the hydrogen gas directly into the combustion chamber. This technology will be investigated in this project. This project is a collaboration between KU Leuven and VIVES smart mobility, and combines the strengths of both worlds. Academic research and practice-oriented research. An internal combustion engine with generator will be converted for this technology in this project. With data acquisition and visualization, the entire process is monitored and analyzed in order to apply different injection strategies.
