Project
Decrypting the motivation and epidemiological determinants associated with citizen engagement in disease surveillance, prevention and control activities related to emerging infectious diseases
This research project contributes partly to the objectives of the DURABLE project (Research Network against Epidemics, funded by the European Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA); EU4H-2021-PJ4) and aims to improve the impact of epidemic countermeasures by integrating evidence-based motivational approaches within disease surveillance, prevention and control toolboxes. In particular, this PhD proposal will study the motivational and epidemiological determinants associated with health seeking behaviours of (among others) the KU Leuven test and trace program (retrospective arm) and how to enhance the impact of citizen engagement in surveillance of mosquito borne diseases in several European countries (prospective arm).
