Project

Legal History

This basic financement will be used to further develop the legal historical research set up over the last years, along the three basic lines adopted: Law & the Humanities, and within this area particularly research on the crossroads between legal history and the history of visual arts, from the Late Middle Ages till today; the history of the legal professions; the historical relations between Belgium/Flanders and Portugal/Brazil.

Within the first research line an international conference will be organized, in order to have the proceedings published in a peer reviewed book. Within the second research line participation in scientific conferences is envisaged, as well as the publication of peer-reviewed texts, mainly in co-authorship. As far as the third line is concerned, additional international financement is being looked for, in order to be possible to co-organize scientific events and publications, in collaboration with Portuguese and Brazilian researchers.

For the first research line, talks are initiated with colleagues in the Arts Faculty, in order to co-finance (and have co-promotorship) research, particularly in the area of heritage law.
