Manufacturing Excellence 4.0 (Manuf Excellence)

To improve effectively, companies must be able to assess their situation and select the right technologies. Both aspects do not appear to be evident for SMEs. This project aims to build a research infrastructure to set up demonstrations/validations. The main objectives of the project are: The realization of a research infrastructure that can facilitate measurement and experimentation campaigns at SMEs to validate manufacturing innovations in their specific business context.Demonstrably quantify the impact of these technologies on the Manufacturing Excellence of the SME. An industrial advisory group will be installed during the project to help determine which measurement campaigns and new technologies will be purchased and developed. Industrial test cases will be carried out to validate the research infrastructure. The goal is to have mobile research infrastructure available for accompanying SMEs. In addition to the measurement and test campaigns (e.g. energy monitoring, visualization of product flows, operator effectiveness, 3D scan production environment) at the company itself, more in-depth analyses (e.g. determining optimal technology to support the operator, testing the impact of different production control methods via simulation) will also be carried out in the operations and operator experience centers at the knowledge partners.

Results:Realisatie 1: Vereistendefinitie voor de onderzoeksinfrastructuur, meetcampagnes en demonstratiescenario’s op basis van overleg met de industriële adviesgroep Realisatie 2: Uitwerking van 1 mobiele terminal, 1 meetkit en 1 technologie testkit met bijhorende meetcampagne en demonstratiescenario Realisatie 3: Validatie op basis van 1 industriële testcase. Start uitwerking van het operations en operator experience center Realisatie 4: Duplicatie van de mobiele terminal en iteratief proces waarbij telkens extra meetkits en technologie testkits en meetcampagnes en demonstratiescenario’s uitgewerkt worden. Op basis van de reeds ontwikkelde componenten kunnen reeds bedrijfsbegeleidingen opgestart worden Realisatie 5: Oplevering van de mobiele infrastructuur, uitgebreidere validatie op 2-tal industriële testcases waarbij ook verdergaande analyses uitgevoerd worden in de operations en operator experience centers bij de kennispartners Realisatie 6: Officiële opening onderzoekswerf Manufacturing Excellence 4.0 en structureel inbedden in community werking Machinebouw&Mechatronica Het project heeft als hoofddoelstellingen: (1) de realisatie van een onderzoeksinfrastructuur die meet- en experimenteercampagnes bij KMO’s kan faciliteren ter validatie van productie innovaties in hun specifieke bedrijfscontext door (2) aantoonbaar te kwantificeren wat de impact is van deze technologieën op de Manufacturing Excellence van de KMO.
