Strengthening Audit-and-Feedback in General Practice: Identifying Barriers, Enablers, and Effective Feedback Mechanisms
This PhD project aims to enhance the effectiveness of audit-and-feedback (A&F) interventions in general practice by systematically identifying key barriers, enabling factors, and feedback mechanisms that contribute to successful implementation. The research will be conducted in three sequential phases. First, it will explore the development process of an automated A&F intervention, focusing on the technical and contextual requirements for integration into routine care. Second, it will examine how specific characteristics of general practices influence their performance and responsiveness to A&F. Finally, the project will investigate which features of feedback delivery—such as format, frequency, and framing—have the greatest impact on improving clinical outcomes, thereby informing the design of more effective A&F strategies in primary care.
