Reconciling Food Systems Sustainability and Biodiversity Conservation in Protected Areas (emBrace). (emBrace)

Most European countries have a policy to protect unique multifunctional landscapes. These are a type of nature-based solutions (NBS) that help to reconcile food systems with biodiversity conservation for the well-being of local communities and their visitors. The specific research questions are: 1) How can collaboration in landscape coalitions overcome trade-offs and tensions and increase synergies between actors in multifunctional protected areas? 2) What is the added value of integrating food systems and biodiversity protection within multifunctional protected landscapes? 3) How can successful experiences be shared and scaled appropriately to enable transformative change? EmBrace's results will be shared and discussed with policy makers, landscape managers, value chain actors and local communities.
