Fuzzy matching of OCT data for AI-based decision support of Multiple Sclerosis treatment (R-15601)

DSI UHasselt has developed AI algorithms that analyze OCT scans, which are a type of eye scan, in the context of treating Multiple Sclerosis (MS) disease. The potential value of our algorithms in MS treatment is clear, but due to technical constraints, it was impossible to fully leverage the extensive dataset we have constructed over the years. This means that although the potential is there, we have not yet succeeded in creating methods that are robust enough for implementation in the hospital. In this CONCEPT project, we will solve this bottleneck by employing fuzzy matching algorithms, thus disclosing the full information in our dataset, increasing model robustness and opening up new valorization pathways.
