Towards a cybersecurity spin-off: the development and optimization of a scalable Security Operations Center (SOC) for SMEs. (SOC4SME)

Within small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), cyber security capacity and expertise is often insufficient to independently implement and maintain effective security policies. This poses a significant and increasing risk to the security of business processes and data. Moreover, new European regulations, such as the NIS 2 directive, require SMEs to take action in the area of cyber security. Howest wants to establish a spin-off that guides SMEs in implementing and maintaining their cyber security policies. To this end, within this project we want to develop and optimize a scalable and decentralized version of a Security Operations Center (SOC), including through the use of AI models. In addition, we will develop a business plan for the creation of this spin-off.
