Optimization of large plasmid DNA production in bioreactors

Plasmid DNA production with bacterial hosts is getting more and more attention in the context of gene therapy and vaccine production. Robust and scalable production processes are of utmost importance. Therefore, the aim is to first optimize strain, medium and process operation conditions for a particular product-of-interest. Second, aiming for optimal yield and/or productivity at production relevant scale. And third, establishing/designing suitable tools that can track the physiological state of the host during the production process and correlate with the “fit-for-production” status of the host cell.
