Microfluidic technologies for single-cell isolation in forensic evidence

A vital aspect in the identification of sexual assault offenders often entails the detection and separation of minute numbers of perpetrator cells from samples collected from the victim or the crime scene. Here we present microfluidics-based approaches for the isolation of male perpetrator spermatozoa from vaginal swabs for future DNA profiling and perpetrator identification.
