Holistic 6G Joint Communication and Sensing Systems: Adaptive Multi-Modal Sensor Fusion and Resource Optimization
The PhD research will focus on developing adaptive algorithms for multi-modal sensor fusion and resource optimization in 6G Joint Communication and Sensing (JCAS) systems. These systems aim to integrate communication and sensing capabilities, leveraging diverse sensor modalities such as gyroscopes, cameras, and visible light sensors to enhance robustness and efficiency. The research will address critical challenges by balancing sensing accuracy, energy consumption, and computational resource usage in real-time operations. The proposed solutions will combine signal processing techniques with machine learning models to manage the complexity of multi-modal fusion and optimize system performance. They will be evaluated on a sub-6 GHz testbed, with applications in key industries like autonomous vehicles, healthcare, and Industry 4.0.
