Wout De Cock

Wout De Cock is an Assistant Professor at the Brussels Centre for Competition Policy at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
He completed his legal studies at KU Leuven, Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 and Université de Liège. Previously before he worked as a teaching and research assistant at KU Leuven and Vrije Universiteit Brussel, where he defended his PhD in 2022. Furthermore, he was a visiting researcher at the Centre of European Law at King’s College London and at the Max Planck Institute for International, European and Regulatory Procedural Law in Luxembourg. Before transitioning to academia, he gained practical experience as a lawyer at the Brussels Bar.
Wout is responsible for delivering courses on EU Economic Policy, Economic History of the EU and EU Law. Moreover, he has delivered guest lectures at various academic and non-academic institutions, such as, for example, Euratom, the Belgian Council of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, the University of Antwerp, several international law firms, etc. Moreover, he has published on a variety of EU law topics in Belgian and international academic journals and books. His PhD was published as a monograph with the leading legal publisher Larcier Intersentia. He is the country correspondent for Belgium for European State aid Law Quartlerly and the Dutch journal on State aid (Tijdschrift voor Staatssteun).
