Archaeological evaluation of 'De Tomme' (Ottenburg) in view of heritage management.

De Tomme is an artificial mound of about 120 m long and more than 3 m high. Its precise age and function are uncertain, but at present the most likely hypothesis is that it is part of a nearby Neolithic site. The monument was protected as a heritage landscape in 1975, but was neglected during the following decades. This research project aims at determining the age and function of the monument. These data should help in developing an adequate heritage management plan and the presentation of the monument towards the wider public.
