HIVA is country expert in an international study on financing of research and innovation by foundations in Europe. HIVA is responsible for data collection and analysis in Belgium. Data-collection is by way of a standardized online survey. Foundations who prefer to fill in a paper-and-pencil version of the questionnaire can do so. The study is commissioned by the European Commission (DG Research) and coordinated by the Free University of Amsterdam (NL).
