Analytical characterization of air pollutants for preventive conservation of works of art.

The aim of this research project is to characterize gaseous and particulate air pollutants in the field of cultural heritage as complete as possible. By the combination of analysis techniques especially multi-pollutant systems will be investigated because they can deteriorate works of art due to synergistic effects stronger. The concept of the NOAEL-values will be used to predict the lifetime of the investigated objects of art.
