Julie Stevens

Julie Stevens holds a Master of Science degree in clinical psychology and completed her PhD in Social Health Science (VUB)/Health Science (UGent) in 2024, with a research focus on Advance Care Planning in general practice. During her doctoral studies, she received a predoctoral fellowship from the FWO (Research Foundation Flanders). She also has a special interest in understanding the complexity of the impact of ACP, in public health approaches to ACP and serious illness conversations, and in facilitating good patient-clinician communication about serious illness and the end of life.
Currently, she works as a postdoctoral researcher on the EU PAL-COPD project (Horizon EU), which aims to integrate palliative care into respiratory care for people with advanced COPD. In this project, a large-scale international stepped wedge cluster-randomised trial will test the effects of a service-level integrated palliative care intervention, tailored to local contexts.
