Project

An integrated functional proteomics platform for the study of normal development and disease

The decoding of the human genome has greatly facilitated sequencing, gene expression and protein high-throughput studies. This implies however major challenges towards data validation, not in the least at the individual protein level of selected targets. This demands the testing and optimization of protein antibodies and further testing on patient samples and cellular model systems used in the lab. This part is a major bottle neck and extremely time consuming thus hampering the speedy valorization of the high-throughput data. The new equipment of ProteinSimple, i.e. the Simple WesTM and Peggy SueTM, allows to automate and speed up these analyses thus providing a major boost to the  current functional proteogenomics analytical pipeline. The ProteinSimple devices will be integrated with a dispenser for automated sample loading and an IncuCyte® device to measure the functional effects of modulation of the selected gene targets and proteins. This integrated platform will be used by multiple teams for a wide range of research projects.
