Monitoring udder health in dairy cows through online milk composition analysis on quarter level

Dairy cows are milked twice or three times a day. Next to the high nutritional value for humans, the milk contains also information about the health and nutritional status of the cows. By monitoring the composition of the produced milk, altering milk quality can be detected early, this milk can be separated and food spoilage is prevented. Moreover, this information can also be used to inform the farmer on an altering health or feed status of the dairy cow(s).In this research project, the potential of online milk composition analysis on quarter level is evaluated for the early detection and monitoring of mastitis in dairy cows.
