Rationalisation and digitalisation of space through videosurveillance.

Original title:Rationalisation et informatisation de l’espace grâce à la surveillance par caméras.

Abstract:The technical dimension of our time may be analyzed through manyways. This paper aims to understand this dimension through the dialecticpair rationality/counter-rationality. We observe, at the same time, thesearch for the creation of predictable spaces, through technicalinformation systems, and a movement of contention, against thesealternatives. Taking as reference the city of London (England), butespecially the city of Campinas (Brazil), we also wish to promote a debateover the consequences of monitoring by closed circuit television.
