On the art of counterpoint

My artistic research will focus on how to revive the Renaissance practice of improvised counterpoint. Based on a close study of ms. Paris, BnF, Esp. 219, allegedly written by Vicente Lusitano ca. 1550, my work will examine the numerous Renaissance counterpoint techniques documented in this source, with the aim of including as many of them among my skills as a performer. A research rooted in practice will help me to achieve the main key objectives of my project: both to further refine my practical abilities in order to present my artistic output in the form of CD recordings featuring improvised counterpoint and to bring the results of my research to the concert hall and modern audiences at the highest possible artistic level.
