New perspectives on polyphony: Alamire's musical legacy revealed through high-technology research tools

Out of concern for the conservation, preservation and valorisation of the musical heritage of the Low Countries, this project aims to promote the knowledge, visibility and availability of Franco-Flemish polyphony – in particular the repertoire in the Alamire manuscripts, a substantial, high-quality and representative corpus spread throughout Europe. It also aims to raise awareness within various levels of education and among the general public, and to play a policy advisory role based on concrete project experiences. Gaps in the knowledge of polyphony will be filled through research with new methodologies and tools to map, contextualise, analyse, compare, and transplant large quantities of repertoire to a performance and experience context, enabling the natural crystallisation of a polyphonic canon.
