Entrepreneurial passion in family firms (R-11559)

Most research on entrepreneurial passion has been done in the context of new venture creation. To date, however, there is little understanding of the role of passion in the entrepreneurial process of existing firms. As entrepreneurial passion is also important for the performance and long-term survival of existing organisations, this project will focus on the role of entrepreneurial passion in family firms since they are the dominant organisational form worldwide (Bloom & Van Reenen, 2007) but their distinctive attributes are too often overlooked in entrepreneurship literature. To fulfil the purpose of this project, we look at several antecedents and consequences of entrepreneurial passion whilst considering key distinguishing aspects of family firms.
