Robust Fault Estimation-Based Fault-Tolerant Control Scheme for Electric Drives

Contemporarily, electrical machines are indispensable in industrial activities since electrical machines are excellent in transforming electrical energy into mechanical energy with high efficiency. However, although electrical machines have already attained good reliability, unexpected failures still occur from time to time due to different kinds of faults and external conditions, resulting in unplanned downtime that will lead to economic loss. This project has to achieve an accurate fault diagnosis to tackle this problem. This fault diagnosis will be embedded into the fault-tolerant control strategies. The fault-tolerant control strategies will be able to, compensate for several faults, allowing to increase the reliability and warn the operator/maintenance engineer of the situation. Finally, the effectiveness of the whole complex fault-tolerant algorithm will be tested in practical industrial applications.
