Re-integration after burn-out. Levers and succesfactors for a succesful return to work

As part of an ESF Flanders project, Antwerp Management School developed the Re-Set service in co-creation with many stakeholders and in collaboration with partners Mensura Certimed and the Association of Recognized Stress and Burn-out Coaches. This type of ESF projects are innovation projects in which explorative research is first conducted and then a service is developed. Followed by a pilot of the developed service and an impact evaluation study. The explorative research resulted in knowledge creation on levers for successful re-integration after burn-out; jobcrafting, psychological safety, increasing of social resources and a coordinated, tailormade structured planning process being the key elements. Based on these outcomes the service called Re-Set was developed in co-creation with the relevant stakeholders. Re-Set refers to the changes that must be made for the resume to work to be successful. The newly created role of Re-Set Facilitator is responsible for facilitating that safe dialogue between employer and employee (process) and facilitating agreement on necessary adjustments for reintegration (content) with the support of a specially developed toolkit consisting of dialogue cards, digital scan and process plan. An impact evaluation is currently being conducted using process tracing as evaluation method.
