Legitimacy of a possible criminalisation of radicalism and/or extremism    

The political discourse is moving towards a criminalisation of radicalism and extremism, but no thorough research has been done on the possible legitimate use of criminal law to address these phenomena. Therefore, this research departs from a question of legitimacy. The general principles of law (subsidiarity, proportionality and legality) will be used as guiding criteria.
