Connected Warehouse (Connected Warehouse)

Connected Warehouse Wireless networking technologies such as 5G, WiFi 6, and WiFi 7 are evolving rapidly, offering unprecedented opportunities for the future of logistics. With Connected Warehouse, VIL guides you in exploring these innovations and their potential to make logistics processes smarter and more efficient. Digitalization and automation of internal transport and employee support require a powerful, tailor-made wireless network infrastructure. Choosing the right technology is crucial, as not every solution is suitable for every application. Factors such as the type of goods, warehouse layout, and the presence of metal structures can influence the usability of wireless networks. This project provides the necessary insights to identify strategic investments and deploy technologies effectively. From capabilities and limitations to costs and future potential: Connected Warehouse helps companies take the next step in warehouse automation with confidence. Target Audience Connected Warehouse is ideal for companies with logistics operations in warehouses or yards that want to invest in an innovative future. It also offers opportunities for providers of wireless solutions, such as network providers and suppliers of software and hardware solutions, who want to align their offerings with the needs of the logistics sector. What does Connected Warehouse offer? This project provides in-depth insights into wireless technologies and their performance, reliability, and requirements for logistics applications. A comprehensive inventory maps out existing best practices and the specific needs of warehouses and yards, with attention to capacity, reliability, and speed. The most suitable technologies per application are identified and incorporated into a practical toolbox, including implementation plans and a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis with concrete business cases. To test the technologies under realistic conditions, two Proof of Concepts (PoCs) will be carried out in a testbed setting, determined in consultation with the advisory group. Additionally, at least one extra PoC will be conducted at a participant’s site with a complex business environment as the ultimate stress test. A concrete roadmap and predefined use cases will demonstrate the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), enabling companies to make well-informed decisions. Time Investment The time investment for participants is limited to approximately five days, including participation in workshops and thematic sessions.
