Design Fictions in Virtual Reality

In this project, we propose to use Virtual Reality (VR) as a framework to evaluate forms of human-computer interaction (HCI) that are not yet implementable with today’s technology. This idea builds on the concept of “Design Fictions”, the practice of exploring hypothetical scenarios to analyse the possible outcomes and implications for society that such technologies could have. Virtual Reality can extend the reach of “Design Fictions” by allowing designers to give substance to their fictions, and study not only the interactive capabilities but also the context in which a technology will be used. The goal of this project is to understand whether findings resulting from exploring 'Design Fictions' in VR can be transferable to the real world. To achieve these aim, we will develop a methodology through which a 'Design Fiction' can be assessed through VR.
