Diameter-height curves for domains managed by the Agency for Nature and Forest (EVINBO)

In the context of public timber sales, the Agency for Nature and Forest produces catalogs with estimates of the volumes on sale. To obtain the most accurate estimation, ANB uses perimeter and altitude measurements in the relevant plots. In order to make more efficient the measurement set in connection with the timber sales, the KOBE project \Measurement after hammering\ was launched in 2012. The purpose of this project was to compare the accuracy of different methods for volume estimation, and to formulate proposals for improvement of the current methodology on the basis of that. One of the recommendations of the final report was to replace the height measurements in the field by diameter-height curves based on measurements from the management plan. In this way, time gain is realized without substantially sacrificing accuracy.
