Role of the nuclear peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPAR) in the intestinal immune response against the protozoan parasites Giardia duodenalis and Giardia muris

Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptors (PPAR) are ligand-activated transcription factors that control both lipid and glucose homeostasis and the regulation of immune responses. Recent observations suggest a role for the PPARs in the host response following infections with the protozoan parasites Giardia duodenalis. The aim of this project is to unravel the role and regulation of the PPARs following infection.
