‘It takes a village’: the role of the community in desistance and recovery
Although desistance from offending and recovery from drug misuse are personal journeys, they occur within a social context. However, little (empirical) attention is paid to unravel this particular role of the community in both processes. Based on a multimethod design, this study explores the role of community capital in the initiation and sustainment of desistance and recovery.
